Sensitive Files in International Deals

Sensitive files in international deals are a growing issue for corporate executives. These files are generally classified as highly sensitive and are the most valuable assets for a business. They are a major risk of falling into the wrong hands. Cybercriminals can target any sensitive file that includes monetary information, personal data or trade secrets.

Loss, misuse, and unauthorised access to sensitive information could negatively impact national security as well as federal programs and the privacy that individuals are entitled to under the Privacy Act. See also controlled non-classified information (CUI).

Information of moderate sensitivity has a legal obligation to be protected but whose disclosure would only cause minor harm for the parties or organizations concerned. Examples include plans for building, donor records, information on intellectual property, information about IT services, visas, and other travel documents and security information.

A company operating internationally requires identifying and categorizing which of its data falls under the PHI of HIPAA and PI under GDPR, LGPD, NY SHIELD, CCPA, and more and ensure that it is securely stored and transferred effectively.
